"Umi Expeditions had a profound impact on me. It was a journey of self-discovery, courage, and unconditional support. The instructors and skippers, Elena and Mas, are really friendly, easygoing, and fun people. But most of all, they have a calm, student centered approach to teaching, that focuses on the journey rather than the destination. 

My favorite memory is definitely reaching 14 meters! I am quite uncomfortable in deep waters, but being able to focus just on my breath and the freediving rope allowed me to push away any scary thoughts and forget about the world around me. My feeling of safety during the dives came from how well theory was covered in the course, the trust in my dive buddy, the quality of the kit provided but most of all from the instructor support. Elena and Mas were able to create an environment of trust, where vulnerability was celebrated, and fears were met with unwavering support. The breathing technique that I learned on the course has helped me with my job, in other sports and in day to day life. I’ve practiced breathing techniques before through yoga, but there’s something so unique about freediving. If I let my mind go back to that place, where I’m held to the buoy, moments away from a dive.. I am able to conquer almost anything and stress disappears!"
